August and Pauline Rauhut both came to the U.S. leaving Germany May 3 1873.
Pauline came to live with her Uncle, Mr Hilla. They were married in 1874 and
lived in Duncan city east of Cheboygan. August was a blacksmith. Some of us
have cookie cutters that he made for his wife to use and an artistic wall plack
made from a horse shoe. So even though we know little of him, we know he had
some artistic intrest, too. He died young of food poisoning, so Pauline was
left to raise her family alone. After her husband's death she moved to
Cheboygan. Pauline and her family were active in the St Thomas Luthern Church.
She was a member of the ladies Aid Society. She was a member of the Loyal
American Maccabees. After her children were grown and left home on their own,
Pauline made her home with her daughter, Martha Rauhut Bell and Family, where
she spent the rest of her years.

I now have the microfilm records of the 1830's-1850's in my care. I was able to abstract the following information. This does change one or two dates I gave you previously. Let me know if you want me to photocopy any of these records. They are recorded in ledger form across two pages, so it isn't a compact record, yet they can be copied.
