Eduard's first wife, Catharine Buchmann, died in 1852. He was 52 years old when he married second wife, Bertha Kn?zel, in 1858. Eduard was born in 1806. Current available records on microfilm for church in Ronneburg begin 1809.

Possible brother of Eduard is Hermann Alexander Grüner as each is listed in baptism of at least one child of the other. Also name of Florian Grüner is list in baptism record of Robert Emil and father's name in marriage record is same as Eduard's father.

The name of Johann Melchior Grüner appears in Eduard's first child's baptism in 1832 and in another baptism record in 1816 of a child of Eduard's father. Both records indicate that he lives or is from Gera. Perhaps this also brother of Eduard
